Why Is Stress Bad for Your Skin?
Stress negatively impacts skin health by triggering inflammation, weakening immunity, and disrupting hormone balance, leading to various skin issues.

Why Is Stress Bad for Your Skin?
Everyone knows that stress is bad for physical health, right?
But did you know that your skin is also affected?
The parts of our body that react to stress are the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, and adrenal axis.
When stressed, the adrenal axis recognizes it and
secretes specific chemicals or hormones, causing an inflammatory response.
Skin troubles arise from these reactions, with the stress hormone ‘cortisol’ being the main culprit.

Another reason why stress is bad is that it affects the skin's immune function.
If the immune system becomes imbalanced due to stress, its ability to fight against viruses, bacteria, fungi, etc.,
decreases, which can worsen various skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, and dermatitis.
Furthermore, stress affects oil and sweat secretion and makes the skin sensitive,
which can exacerbate itching or burning. Hormonal imbalances can also worsen rashes and other skin troubles,
making stress an undeniable enemy to skin health.

However, the degree to which people experience stress varies, and skin symptoms also differ depending on the intensity of stress.
Therefore, it is necessary to distinguish between temporary and chronic stress,
and it is best to relieve stress immediately when it occurs.
Normally, getting enough rest, eating healthy meals with vegetables and fruits,
and exercising to maintain basic lifestyle habits, along with improving negative thinking, can
help alleviate stress. If the level of stress is severe, leading to anxiety or depression,
seeking psychological counseling can also be helpful.
