Canned Food: OK? Worry-Free Foods
Discover which canned and processed foods are surprisingly good for you, offering essential nutrients without excessive additives.
Canned Food: OK? Worry-Free Foods
We usually think that processed foods are bad for our health.
However, there are cases where processed foods, even those in cans, can be good for you.
I'd like to introduce some products where nutrient destruction during processing is not severe,
and which do not contain excessive sodium or additives.
First, tuna.
Canned tuna is truly a product integrated into our daily lives.
Blue-backed fish like tuna, salmon, and sardines are rich in omega-3 fatty acids,
which help lower blood pressure and manage inflammation.
They also help manage triglyceride levels, a major culprit in cardiovascular diseases.
Even though canned blue-backed fish are processed,
you can still fully consume their nutrients.
However, it's best to avoid products that are salted or contain sauces and seasonings.
Second, beans.
Legumes are rich in plant-based protein and fiber.
Canned beans also provide their nutrients intact, so they're OK!
Third is soup.
For busy modern people who rarely eat salads or seasoned vegetable side dishes,
canned soup can be a convenient way to get essential nutrients.
However, some commercially available products contain excessive sodium,
so it's advisable to check the details carefully before purchasing.
Finally, chicken.
Chicken is composed of fine, tender muscle fibers,
making it good for children or the elderly who may have difficulty digesting.
Canned chicken products and semi-prepared foods also pose no problems,
so you can enjoy them freely. However, I recommend checking the salt content carefully.
