A patient contacted our clinic after sustaining trauma near Yaksu Station.

The upper front tooth suffered a partial fracture from a fall.

There was no fractured fragment,

and the patient presented with minor lip injuries

and an exposed tooth nerve.

The tooth showed slight mobility accompanied by concussion

and fine cracks around the fracture site.

X-rays were taken to check for internal root fractures.

On the X-ray,

no areas suspicious of root fracture were observed.

Generally,

in cases of dental trauma

accompanied by tooth looseness,

the tooth needs to be stabilized to reduce mobility,

and this period should typically be

short, around 2-3 weeks.

Since the nerve was already exposed

and causing symptoms,

root canal treatment was started simultaneously with tooth stabilization.

Using a wire,

the tooth was stabilized, including surrounding teeth,

and for esthetic reasons, as it was a front tooth,

a temporary restoration was performed

using resin as a stopgap measure.

We tried to match the color as closely as possible

by checking the surrounding tooth color.^^

During the root canal treatment period,

the wire was attached, and symptoms were monitored,

and as symptoms gradually subsided,

the root canal treatment was completed.

Since the root canal was very large,

X-rays were taken,

and the root canal was sealed with an appropriately sized material.

Subsequent treatment mostly involves symptom checks,

monitoring mobility and pain of the traumatized tooth,

and then proceeding with esthetic prosthetics.

Prolonging the tooth stabilization period

to reduce mobility of a traumatized tooth

can negatively affect the periodontal tissues

around the tooth,

so caution is needed.

In cases of dental trauma,

visiting the dentist as soon as possible

can lead to better prognoses for the tooth.
