Hello. This is Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic.
On October 31st, Director Lee Chang-mok of Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic appeared on MBN's special documentary H <Modern People's Eyes Are Tired: Eye Health Alert>.
We hope this broadcast will be of some help to those suffering from various eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and dry eye syndrome.

Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic is located right in front of Gangnam Station Exit 10,
on the 6th floor of the Tongyeong Building.

As a result of the examination, patient Jung Sun-yi was diagnosed with
end-stage glaucoma in her right eye and early-stage glaucoma in her left eye,
along with progressing cataracts.
For those unfamiliar with glaucoma, it is an eye disease where
intraocular pressure rises, damaging the optic nerve, which then leads to visual field defects.

Glaucoma is often called the ‘silent thief of sight’.
This is because there are no distinct symptoms during the progression of glaucoma.
By the time one notices their visual field gradually narrowing,
it is highly likely that it is already too late.

The results showed that both glaucoma and cataracts were progressing.
To explain cataracts, it is an eye disease where the transparent lens inside the eye becomes cloudy and opaque.
It can be congenital or acquired, but it is often caused by acquired aging.

In fact, according to the National Health Insurance Service, it was confirmed that
cataract surgery is overwhelmingly the most common surgery for any disease in Korea.

This time, we will talk about a representative eye disease often called a chronic ailment of modern people,
dry eye syndrome.

Director Lee Chang-mok stated that a crucial part of dry eye management is
‘eyelid hygiene’.
Those who wear various eye makeup such as eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadow
should pay even more attention to eyelid hygiene,
because makeup residue can remain on the eyelids,
which can lead to the production of eyelid sebum.

Will the participants in the broadcast be able to alleviate their dry eye symptoms
through a 2-week eye health improvement project?!

After 2 weeks of focusing on eyelid hygiene
and applying warm compresses to the eyes for dry eye management,
a noticeable improvement was observed.
Modern people living in today's society suffer from various eye conditions.
Unless there is severe eye pain or a significant change,
they often continue their daily lives as usual.
What is most important is to visit an ophthalmologist regularly
to check the current condition of your eyes.
