Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic World Sight Day Event
Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic is holding a special event from October 13th to 27th to celebrate World Sight Day. The clinic will donate all fundus examination fees for the early detection of the three major blinding diseases (macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy) to the Korea Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness.

Let's find out together what World Sight Day is and what it entails!

World Sight Day is held annually on the second Thursday of October.
The Korean Academy of Ophthalmology used to commemorate ‘Eye Day’ on November 11th each year,
but since 2017, it has been celebrated on the second Thursday of October,
in line with ‘World Sight Day’ as designated by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The purpose of Eye Day is to ensure that all citizens can enjoy life with healthy eyes,
to provide correct knowledge necessary for maintaining eye health,
to encourage all citizens to strive to eliminate all factors harmful to eye health,
and to raise awareness to correct unfair restrictive notions and systems in society related to eyes.
Indeed, the eye is one of the most important body structures, as people obtain 90% of information through their eyes!
However, our eyes are exposed to harmful environments, and it is not easy to restore vision once it has deteriorated.
Consistent management habits and regular check-ups are absolutely!! necessary.

The Korea Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness
is a foundation that makes significant social contributions through various eye-related projects,
such as providing free eye examination support and low vision rehabilitation for low-income individuals,
children, seniors, and foreigners in medically underserved areas with limited access to ophthalmology,
and supporting eye health in underdeveloped countries.

will donate the full cost of fundus examinations
for the early detection of the three major blinding diseases (macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy)
to the Korea Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness to take a step towards
