Men’s Short Nose Rhinoplasty, No-Scar Alar Reduction (+Functional Correction)

A case study of a 30-year-old male undergoing short nose correction, no-scar alar reduction, and functional rhinoplasty for improved aesthetics and breathing.

Men’s Short Nose Rhinoplasty, No-Scar Alar Reduction (+Functional Correction)

* Basic Information

# Male in his 30s

# The nose is short and looks upturned.

# Breathing is uncomfortable due to rhinitis.

* Consultation

# The patient’s primary source of stress was the short nasal tip and excessive nostril visibility. He also wanted to improve the appearance of flared alae (nasal wings). Since it was not necessary to reduce the alae to the extent of leaving scars through an incisional method, we decided to proceed with a non-incisional (No-Scar) method.

# We anticipated a satisfying nasal line by extending the nasal tip and raising the bridge line.

# A pre-operative CT scan revealed a deviated septum and signs of hypertrophic rhinitis, so we decided to perform functional rhinoplasty concurrently.

* Surgical Plan

# Nasal Tip Surgery

- Short nose correction

- No-scar alar reduction

# Nasal Bridge Surgery

- Silicone implant

# Functional Rhinoplasty

- Septoplasty (Septal deviation correction)

- Turbinate resection

- Internal nasal valve reconstruction

* Post-operative Progress

# The short nose has been corrected, resulting in a more masculine nasal profile.

# In cases where the septum is severely deviated, breathing discomfort can be corrected through functional rhinoplasty. Achieve both aesthetic and functional improvements simultaneously :)

* Key Points For short nose correction, 1. sufficient dissection of skin and cartilage and 2. the formation of a solid support structure are essential. The cartilage is held together by very tough ligaments, almost like glue. To correct a short nose, it is vital to sufficiently release these ligaments and then create a sturdy support to prevent the nose from returning to its original position.
