Short Nose and Upturned Nose Revision Surgery: Immediate Post-Op Video!

A case study of a 50-year-old female patient undergoing revision surgery for a short, upturned nose caused by capsular contracture, utilizing rib cartilage and nostril lowering.

[Video — Refer to Original]

* Female patient in her 50s

* Primary Complaints (Reason for surgery): I had nose surgery using ear cartilage, but contracture occurred, making my nose significantly shorter. My nostrils are also severely asymmetrical.

* Desired Outcome: I want to correct the upturned (short) nose and achieve a natural yet sharp nasal tip.

* Surgical Plan

1. The nose became short due to contracture following a previous surgery with ear cartilage and implants -> Planned for length extension by sufficiently dissecting the skin.

2. Pre-operative CT scans showed a small and severely deviated septum, so the use of rib cartilage was decided.

3. Planned for nostril lowering (alar rim graft) to correct the asymmetry of the nostrils.

* Surgical Impressions

1. Contracted nose revision is a highly difficult procedure.

2. Used rib cartilage to sufficiently extend the length and make the nostrils less visible.

3. Corrected nostril asymmetry through the nostril lowering technique.
