# The double chin area is composed of various layers as shown in the following diagram. Let’s look at each component in more detail.

A. Fat

1. The procedure commonly referred to as ‘LipoSound Liposuction’ targets the subcutaneous fat layer.

2. However, as you can see in the diagram, fat also exists beneath the platysma muscle (the wide neck muscle), right? This includes subplatysmal fat, interplatysmal fat, etc. Since this is deep fat located under the muscle, it can never be reduced through liposuction alone. Therefore, cases where the area still looks bulky or blunt after liposuction are often due to this fat! This fat must be removed by making an incision in the muscle and directly visualizing it after moving the muscle aside!

B. Muscle

In some cases, the platysma muscle itself is sagging. This can be congenital or a result of the natural aging process. In such cases, the muscle itself must be tightened firmly, like wearing a ‘corset’, to create a tight line! This procedure is commonly known as ‘double chin muscle tying’.

One of the most significant effects of double chin muscle tying is that it creates a jawline that doesn’t fold even when looking down! It’s almost like how a Galaxy Flip phone folds cleanly!

# ‘LipoSound’ can be thought of as equipment that uses ultrasound to emulsify fat. Because it liquefies fat particles—which are like orange pulp—into a juice-like state:

1. It is much smoother—fat can be squeezed out like water without applying great force, and it can be suctioned using only a small cannula. Therefore, there is much less irritation, leading to faster recovery from bruising and swelling. Consequently, ‘bio-bond’ (post-operative adhesions) is also significantly reduced. 2. Since ultrasound is emitted from beneath the dermis, there is less skin sagging after the procedure, and additional skin elasticity and tightening effects can be achieved.
