Achieve a Sophisticated Look with VIBE's Alar Rim Lowering for Dragon Nose Correction

A nose where the nostrils are highly visible from the side is often referred to as a ‘dragon nose.’

Generally, for those with a dragon nose, we recommend a procedure called alar rim lowering.

Today, for those concerned about a dragon nose, let’s take some time to learn about alar rim lowering at VIBE Plastic Surgery.

Alar Rim Lowering by Dr. Young-moon Yoo of VIBE!

For noses where the nostrils appear larger or more flared than average, VIBE uses alar wing correction techniques to create a beautiful nasal tip that doesn’t look flared from any angle.

You may have many concerns while researching alar rim lowering.

VIBE’s alar rim lowering minimizes scarring by making incisions inside the nose and ensures high satisfaction by correctly adjusting nostril asymmetry for a balanced look.

Furthermore, it reduces nostril exposure from all angles, allowing you to expect high levels of satisfaction :)

Not all dragon noses look the same, and the surgical methods vary accordingly.

To explain the three main types of dragon noses: cases where the inner part of the nostril is raised, cases where the center is raised, and cases where the outer part is raised.

First, if the inner part of the nostril is raised, the alar cartilage is repositioned to move the nasal tip cartilage to both sides for correction.

If the center of the nostril is raised but the exposure is not severe, correction can be done using only autologous cartilage. If the exposure is significant, a composite graft of autologous cartilage and skin is used.

Similarly, if the outer part of the nostril is raised, autologous cartilage is used for mild cases, while a combination of cartilage and skin is used for those with severe exposure.

We recommend alar rim lowering for these individuals!
  • When the alar rim is retracted, making the inside of the nose visible
  • When the alar wings are asymmetrical
  • When the nose looks ‘pinched’ after rhinoplasty
  • When contracture occurs after rhinoplasty, causing the nostrils to look upturned
  • When the center of the nostril is significantly raised, resembling a snub nose

Many of our actual patients at VIBE have seen improvements from a flared look to a slim, refined shape through dragon nose correction via alar rim lowering. It would be helpful to refer to our before-and-after photos :)

Patients are highly satisfied with VIBE not only for the results but for other aspects as well.
