Hello.
This is Vibe Plastic Surgery.
You have probably heard at least one rumor about double eyelid surgery!

✔️ Does lateral canthoplasty always re-attach?
✔️ Does double eyelid surgery worsen dry eye syndrome?
✔️ Are all doctors who perform double eyelid surgery board-certified plastic surgeons?
✔️ Is it always better to use dissolvable stitches for double eyelid surgery?
There are many such rumors and misconceptions.
Let’s find out which of these are myths and which are facts.
Does lateral canthoplasty always re-attach?

NO!
Depending on the surgical method, modern techniques can minimize side effects and prevent the skin from re-attaching. Therefore, you do not need to worry that lateral canthoplasty will definitely fuse back together.
Does double eyelid surgery worsen dry eye syndrome?

Partial YES!
You may experience some dry eye symptoms shortly after the surgery. However, since the eyes typically recover after 1 to 3 months, there is no need for long-term concern.
Are all doctors who perform double eyelid surgery board-certified plastic surgeons?

YES!
Just because a clinic performs double eyelid or nose surgeries does not mean all the doctors there are board-certified plastic surgeons. While general practitioners can perform these surgeries, it is recommended to seek a board-certified plastic surgeon if you want safer and more specialized care.
Is it always better to use dissolvable stitches for double eyelid surgery?

NO!
The stitches need to hold the fold firmly while the double eyelid is setting. For this reason, a higher percentage of clinics actually prefer non-dissolvable stitches. Even when non-dissolvable stitches are used, their safety has been proven over a long period, so you have nothing to worry about.
