Essential Precautions Before Eye and Nose Surgery!
Learn the essential pre-operative precautions for eye and nose surgery, from medication guidelines to lifestyle habits, to ensure a safe procedure and optimal results.

Hello.
This is Vibe Plastic Surgery.

Regardless of gender, age, or nationality,
interest in eye and nose surgery continues to grow.
While these procedures are relatively popularized compared to other plastic surgeries
and easily accessible,
the most important thing to consider for such surgeries
is the list of pre-operative precautions.
Today, we will take a detailed look at the precautions to follow before undergoing eye and nose surgery.

No Eyelid Glue or Eyelid Tape?
Before undergoing eye surgery,
it is best to stop using eyelid glue and eyelid tape
at least one week in advance.
This is because eyelid glue and tape
can cause the eyelid skin to thin out
and lead to sagging issues.
Therefore, even if you use them daily,
we recommend that you stop using them
at least one week before your surgery.

Medication Before Eye and Nose Surgery?
If you are taking medications that thin the blood,
such as aspirin,
you must stop taking them one week before the procedure
to achieve better results during eye and nose surgery.
Of course, in cases where medication is absolutely necessary,
such as for high blood pressure or diabetes,
please make sure to consult with the medical staff
during your pre-operative consultation
to decide on any exceptions.

No Eyelash Extensions?
If you have eyelash extensions,
you must have them removed
on the day of your eye and nose surgery.
This prevents interference during the procedure
and helps achieve better results.

No Nail Art or Pedicures?
During surgery, oxygen saturation is primarily monitored
through the fingernails.
If you have nail art or a pedicure,
it can interfere with the oxygen saturation measurement.
Therefore, removing all nail products before your surgery
will ensure a safer procedure.

No Jewelry or Accessories?
During surgery, an electrocautery device is used
to control bleeding.
If you are wearing metal accessories,
there is a risk of burns due to the electric current,
so it is best not to wear any jewelry.

How Long to Avoid Alcohol and Smoking?
After surgery, good blood flow through the vessels
is essential for fast wound healing and recovery.
However, smoking constricts peripheral blood vessels,
which delays the healing of wounds.
Additionally, all anesthetics used during surgery
are metabolized through the liver.
If you have consumed excessive alcohol, it can affect liver function,
preventing the smooth metabolism of anesthetics
and putting a strain on the liver.
Therefore, you must stop both smoking and drinking
at least two weeks before the surgery.

No Driving on the Day of Surgery?
Some people plan to drive themselves on the day of surgery.
Many seem to think, ‘It will be fine if I rest enough after the operation.’
However, even if the sleep anesthesia
is very brief,
or even if sleep anesthesia is not used at all,
swelling around the eyes after surgery
can cause temporary vision loss
or blurred vision.
Because it is dangerous to drive yourself under these conditions,
we strongly recommend using public transportation.

By following these few simple precautions,
you can undergo eye and nose surgery safely
and achieve excellent results.
Please keep them in mind and make sure to follow them.
