It involves a complex combination of soft tissue, subcutaneous fat layers, cartilage, and bone. These components are typically not fully developed by the end of middle school.

Therefore, we generally recommend waiting until the 2nd or 3rd year of high school, when the growth of cartilage and bone is considered complete, before undergoing rhinoplasty.

Eye and nose surgery: Together or separately?

In reality, it does not matter whether you do the eyes and nose together or separately.

There is no significant difference in the final result or satisfaction level between the two options.

However, the best time to have surgery is when you feel most comfortable and have enough time for a relaxed recovery.

Does nose surgery create an epicanthoplasty (inner corner) effect?

There is a very strong structure called the medial canthal tendon located at the inner corner of the eye.

Because of this, simply raising the bridge with a few millimeters of silicone implant does not pull the skin enough to actually move the eyes closer together.

While some people may feel their eyes look slightly more centered because the higher bridge draws visual focus to the middle, there is no actual change in the distance between the eyes.

Which area is performed first during combined surgery?

Naturally, the eyes are done first.

This is because during eye surgery, the patient needs to open and close their eyes to check the results. Therefore, it is usually performed under ‘conscious sedation,’ where the patient is in a drowsy, dream-like state.

In contrast, to minimize anxiety, fear, and pain during the procedure, the standard sequence is to perform the eye surgery first and then allow the patient to sleep deeply during the nose surgery.
