Gangnam Station Rhinoplasty: How to Choose the Right Implant Height? (Tips from Vibe Plastic Surgery)
Learn how to choose the ideal rhinoplasty implant height based on skin thickness, cartilage structure, and facial balance at Vibe Plastic Surgery in Gangnam.

Hello!
This is Vibe Plastic Surgery :)
During rhinoplasty consultations at Gangnam Station, one of the most frequently asked questions is:
‘How is the height of the nose determined?’
I will explain this step-by-step from a specialist’s perspective!
I’ll clearly guide you through the methods for determining nose height and how to find the ideal height that suits you best. 😊

What is the standard for implant height?
‘How many millimeters is the bridge implant?’
‘How many millimeters will the tip of my nose be raised?’
When conducting rhinoplasty consultations at Gangnam Station, patients often ask questions like these.
One thing to note is that while bridge implants are expressed in millimeters (mm), the nasal tip is generally not expressed in mm.
Because the tip involves various factors moving together—such as skin thickness, cartilage shape, and cartilage flexibility—we do not represent its height with a simple number!
There is another point that often causes confusion during consultations.
Many people imagine that the silicone implant used for the bridge is a straight, chalk-like stick. However, that is not actually the case.
Implants are manufactured with natural, streamlined curves. They are produced in various detailed shapes to match different facial structures, skin thicknesses, and existing bridge heights!
You can categorize them based on the millimeter measurement of the thickest part of the implant. :)

What is the perfect implant height for me?!
At Vibe Plastic Surgery in Gangnam, we primarily use bridge implants ranging from approximately 3mm to 5mm.
The shape and height of the implant vary depending on your desired look and current anatomy, such as:
- Cases where the area between the eyes is low and the bridge lacks definition
- Cases where the area between the eyes is high but the bridge and tip are low
- Cases where the bridge already has some height
- Cases where the width of the nose is wide or narrow
- Cases where the skin is thick or thin
- Whether you want a natural-looking tip or a more dramatic, ‘glamorous’ look

The most common cases at Vibe Plastic Surgery are as follows:
✔️ Relatively natural nose: 3–4mm
✔️ High bridge and glamorous nose: 5–6mm
However, rather than deciding on a specific millimeter beforehand, it is essential to visit the clinic for a thorough consultation. You must proceed with a surgery that considers the shape, thickness, elasticity, and overall balance of your nose. :)
If the range your nose can naturally stretch is about 4mm, forcing a 5–6mm implant can lead to issues over time. The silicone may become visible through the skin, or the skin tissue may fail to withstand the pressure, increasing the risk of inflammation!

Does the implant go in exactly as it looks?
When patients visiting Vibe Plastic Surgery for rhinoplasty see the implants, many think they are inserted into the nose exactly as they are. That is not the case!
After deciding on the shape through consultation, we go through a process called ‘carving,’ where the implant is sculpted to match the patient’s specific nose shape and the desired outcome.

Conclusion!
In conclusion, rhinoplasty is not determined by implant height alone. One must consider skin thickness, cartilage structure, and facial proportions!
