Glamorous Nose Surgery: Is Height the Only Answer? | Apgujeong VAVA Plastic Surgery Nose Surgery Tips
Is height the only answer for a glamorous nose? VAVA Plastic Surgery explains the truth behind common misconceptions about nose height, considering gender, midface length, and facial volume for a balanced, natural look.

Hello, this is Apgujeong VAVA Plastic Surgery.
Recently, our YouTube video titled ‘Glamorous Nose Surgery: Is Simply Taller the Answer?! | 4-Minute Express Nose Surgery Success Tips’ has garnered significant attention.
When patients come for consultations, the most common questions revolve around how much the nose will be raised and what millimeter of silicone will be used.
Furthermore, some people believe that a tall nose is inherently beautiful, so today, we will take some time to explain the misconceptions and truths surrounding this idea.
Nose Height

Nose height can be broadly divided into two parts: the bridge of the nose and the tip of the nose.
When determining the height of the nasal bridge, it is best to first consider three factors.
Nasal Bridge Height
1. Gender (Male/Female)

For women, if the nose becomes too long, it can make them look older. Therefore, it is advisable to adjust the length based on the overall facial proportions to avoid making the nose appear too long. Conversely, for men, if the nose is too short compared to the overall facial harmony, it can give a less dignified impression. Thus, it is better to design it shorter than for women.

In this case, the higher the height of the glabella (the area between the eyebrows), the higher the starting point of the nose, making the nose appear longer.
For women, the glabella is designed lower, while for men, it is raised longer to emphasize the T-zone and create a masculine look, thereby designing the height of the nasal bridge.
2. Midface & Nose Length

The longer the midface, the lower the glabella height. The shorter the midface, the higher the nasal bridge is set to achieve overall facial balance.
3. Facial Volume (Forehead/Cheekbones/Protruding Mouth)

When viewed from the side, for individuals with sufficient protrusion in their face, designing a glamorous nose can help achieve overall balance.
Conversely, if individuals have low protrusion in their forehead, cheekbones, and lips, and have a flat facial appearance, designing a glamorous nose might lead to what is commonly referred to as a ‘fish-like face’ (a feeling of only the midface protruding).
Therefore, a compromise on the height of the nasal bridge is necessary.
*The angle of the nasal ridge can also affect the degree of glamour.

Angle of nasal ridge = Height of nasal bridge
= Glamorous design
-> Can actually result in a dull effect
Angle of nasal ridge = Glamorous, Height of nasal bridge = Subtle
-> Can result in a glamorous effect
Nose Tip Height

People who desire a glamorous design often wish for a high nose tip. At VAVA Plastic Surgery, we strive to meet our patients’ needs as much as possible.
However, if the nose tip does not match the surrounding facial volume, we do not recommend raising the nose tip excessively. The reason is that if there is insufficient volume and only the nose tip is dramatically raised, it can create a strong ‘operated’ look, leading to an artificial and unnatural appearance.
Therefore, we provide 1:1 customized designs that match the patient’s existing facial volume.
Side Effects of a High Nose
The recently popular ‘glamorous straight-to-upturned line’ nose surgery often involves raising and straightening the nasal bridge and tip to create a distinct impression.
However, nose surgery that only emphasizes height carries several risks.
1. Columellar Show and Excessive Nostril Exposure
If the nose tip is excessively raised, the face can appear awkward.
2. Disruption of Overall Facial Proportions
If only the nose is raised, it can disrupt harmony with the forehead, chin, and cheekbones, leading to an unnatural impression.
3. Tissue Strain and Risk of Revision Surgery
Excessively raised implants can put a strain on the skin and cartilage, potentially causing discomfort or deformation over time.
In other words, it is difficult to say that a nose surgery is glamorous and successful simply because it is high.
VAVA Plastic Surgery’s Definition of ‘Successful Glamorous Nose Surgery’
At VAVA, we consider factors more important than just nose height.
Overall facial proportions: Nose design that harmonizes with the forehead, cheekbones, and jawline.
Nose tip angle and columellar show: Detailed adjustments for a natural impression.
We aim for customized nose surgery that suits your face, rather than simply adhering to ‘high/low’ standards.
Nose surgery is a field that cannot be evaluated by height alone.
Apgujeong VAVA Plastic Surgery aims for ‘overall facial balance and natural glamour’,
and proposes the most suitable nose surgery design for each patient.
