aesthetic demands have increased, and laminate treatment is widely used to restore tooth shape.

Compared to the past, tooth reduction is minimal, almost non-existent,

and it's possible to create them by just trimming the surface of the necessary parts.

When the patient first visited, they came because their central teeth were gapped due to small canine teeth on both sides, and they only wanted to fill the empty space.

Fractures were observed in the surrounding teeth, so I explained tooth contouring for those teeth as well,

but they were so bothered by the empty space that they initially only wanted to fill that space.

In such cases, non-prep laminates, which involve no tooth reduction at all, were possible, so we proceeded.

Non-Prep Laminates

Without modifying the shape of the surrounding teeth,

the empty space in the middle was filled by naturally connecting the shape and color.

The patient was very satisfied just by having the space filled.

However,

the patient visited again shortly after.

I wondered if there was a problem, but they said:

‘I want full laminates, including the broken teeth.’

They were satisfied when the empty space was filled,

but with their wedding approaching, they developed a desire to also treat the surrounding broken teeth and small microdontia.

Since the lower teeth were even, we decided to whiten the lower teeth

and proceed with laminates for the upper six teeth.

Because the existing teeth were small and fractured,

we performed tooth contouring only where the laminates would be placed,

without the tooth reduction typically required for crowns.

This is the result of the work done at the dental laboratory.

Before seating them directly on the patient,

we evaluate the tooth shape, color, and lines on the model

and check for any necessary modifications in advance.

Laminate Bonding

The patient was also pleased, so this is a photo after bonding and completing the surrounding whitening.

Compared to before treatment, the broken teeth and yellowish tooth color

have been restored to an ideal shape, and the color has brightened.

The patient was very happy, saying they now smile broadly unconsciously ^^

Thus, laminates,

when applied to appropriate indications,

can show dramatic results.

Recently, for mild cases, instead of orthodontic treatment, which takes a long time and involves uncomfortable appliance attachment,

aesthetic treatment can be completed in a short time with laminates

in many instances.
