When the alignment of front teeth is uneven,

or when cavities develop between teeth due to this,

many wonder what kind of treatment is performed to align the teeth with prosthetics after cavity treatment.

My teeth are overlapping, and it's dark between them.

This patient was a high school student.

The central teeth erupted overlapped,

and due to the misaligned eruption direction, the gum line was also uneven.

A deep cavity formed between the overlapped teeth, requiring root canal treatment.

Before prosthetic treatment, the patient and guardian expressed a desire to match the shape and color of the surrounding teeth.

The reason was that their teeth had been overlapped since childhood, preventing them from smiling broadly, and they were unhappy with the shape of their teeth.

We decided to proceed with crown treatment for the four anterior teeth.

The patient had a deep bite,

where the upper front teeth deeply overlap the lower front teeth.

Orthodontic treatment could also be a good option,

but it takes a long time, and the patient was not yet willing to pursue it.

In crown treatment for deep bite, securing space for the crown is crucial.

These are photos before trimming the teeth and taking impressions.

The original teeth were small, and the space between them and the opposing teeth was very tight,

so the process involved trimming the teeth to create space for the crowns and to prevent occlusal interference.

In cases where the gum line is uneven and tooth size is insufficient, gingivectomy can be performed

to lengthen the teeth, thereby achieving an aesthetic effect.

Gingivectomy

This is a treatment option for cases where the gums cover too much of the tooth,

as shown in the photo above, or when the tooth length is significantly insufficient.

Although we explained it to the patient, they were sufficiently satisfied with just having their teeth appear even

and did not wish to proceed with it. ^^;;

This is a photo of the completed final prosthetics.

The bite, which excessively covered the lower teeth, was slightly reduced, and the height of the surrounding teeth was adjusted to create an even alignment.

Prosthetic treatment can achieve dramatic results in a short period.

It still feels like a case where gingivectomy would have been beneficial.

Nevertheless, the patient was relieved that their long-standing complex was resolved,

and their satisfaction was truly fortunate.^^
