Types of Double Eyelid Lines (In-line, In-out line, Out-line)

Today, I will discuss the types of double eyelid lines that many people ask about. Double eyelid lines can be categorized into In-line, In-out line, and Out-line. I will explain the advantages, disadvantages, and structure of each line.

1) In-line

This is the most natural double eyelid line, commonly seen in most East Asian eye structures. The starting point of the double eyelid is slightly covered by the epicanthal fold, so the lacrimal lake is not excessively exposed.

Advantages: Natural appearance.

Fewer eye irritation symptoms due to normal eye structure.

(Eye stinging, excessive tearing, foreign body sensation, dryness)

The eyes do not appear fierce.

Disadvantages: Not suitable for high double eyelid lines.

The inner (nasal) corner of the eye may appear somewhat constricted.

Recently, there has been a preference for Out-line double eyelids, leading to the misconception that In-line double eyelids are constricting or result in an unsatisfactory 'hidden' double eyelid. However, as you can see from the various cases in the photos, they do not necessarily appear constricted.

2) In-out line

This double eyelid line is created when one desires a more open eye appearance with more of the inner (nasal) double eyelid line visible. However, unlike the In-line, the In-out line involves greater exposure of the lacrimal lake. Therefore, it is suitable for individuals whose eye structure naturally has a small or light-colored lacrimal lake.

Advantages: The inner (nasal) double eyelid appears more open.

Compatible with higher lines.

Does not yet feel excessive.

Disadvantages: Relatively more lacrimal lake exposure.

The eyes may appear somewhat 'slit-like'.

Nowadays, if someone wants more of the inner (nasal) double eyelid to be visible, it is common to create an In-out line by performing both epicanthoplasty (medial canthoplasty) and lateral canthoplasty. In such cases, a slight epicanthal fold remains, and the structure of the medial canthus is not completely altered, which results in a less 'overdone' or 'surgically altered' appearance.

3) Out-line

Types of Double Eyelid Lines (In-line, In-out line, Out-line) 사진 6 — Out-line eyelids have the double eyelid starting point independent of the epicanthal fold.

The Out-line is a recently preferred double eyelid line for a more glamorous and larger eye appearance. However, due to the typical East Asian eye structure, it is not suitable for many individuals. This double eyelid is best suited for those with large eyes, thin skin, and minimal epicanthal folds.

Advantages: Allows for a glamorous eye look with makeup.

Eyes appear larger.

Disadvantages: May appear sleepy or vacant.

Eyes may look swollen, like a ‘sausage’.

Today i would like to show you the kind of double fold line.

1)In line

The 'In line' is the most general double fold among asian. The medial side of double fold is covered by mongolian fold (=epicanthal fold). It is suitable for people who want natural beauty. But it can be shown a little stuffy around medial fold. So it is not favorable to fancy eyelid.

2)In-out line

In this case, medial tip of double fold line is just on the mongolian fold. It can exposure medial double fold more bigger. But lacrimal lake (reddish soft tissue on the most medial side of eye) is shown more, and it can make your eye fierce.

3)Out-line

The 'out line' is the most general line among caucasian. The most medial end of double fold is parallel to eyelid margin. It looks more fancy but excessive big fold looks sleepy and space-out.
