The case I will introduce today
is one where I previously explained the treatment process.
It involves a patient who used dentures, but the dentures caused inflammation in the surrounding teeth,
leading to a transition to implant treatment.

The patient was using dentures after being advised to do so, with three teeth missing on both sides.
As mentioned earlier, for this number of missing teeth,
implant treatment is much simpler in terms of method and duration than dentures,
and it is also better for the purpose of preserving other teeth.
To use dentures, it's not just about making the denture;
the surrounding teeth also need crown treatment to anchor the denture clasps.
Therefore, implant treatment is much simpler for such cases.
When the dentures were made, the patient was told by that dental clinic that implants were not possible.
Looking at the X-ray, additional alveolar bone grafting, such as sinus lift, seemed necessary,
but implants were not impossible for the patient.
So, we decided to first alleviate the discomfort and proceed with the treatment.

If the denture puts pressure around the teeth, over time, the teeth will loosen
and their lifespan will inevitably be affected.
Looking at the white arrow, the gums were overgrown due to inflammation.
We decided to extract only the worst tooth first and observe the slightly uncomfortable teeth for a while.
Since the severely inflamed area was extracted and we waited for it to heal before surgery,
the treatment periods for the left and right sides were necessarily different.
After completing the opposite side's teeth to ensure no discomfort during meals,
the severely problematic area also had its crown completed.
The patient said that eating was much more comfortable than when using dentures.
The teeth that had been affected by the dentures still occasionally loosen, causing some discomfort,
but since eating is still possible in this state, we decided to let the patient use them as much as possible.
If discomfort arises, we will treat other areas then and focus on good management for now.

The overgrown gums due to inflammation have changed into healthy gums,
and the new prosthetics have also balanced the occlusion to prevent strain on the front teeth.
